Treat yourself to a spa day your body calls out, do not treat yourself your wallet and schedule quickly answer. We’ve all been there. As much as a trip to the spa to be pampered would be more than fabulous, we don’t always have the time or money for it. Fortunately, there’s plenty of ways to detox and have a spa day at home with ingredients that are probably already in your kitchen and are void of scary chemicals and dyes!
Step 1: Set the atmosphere. Light some flickering scented candles and play soothing music to really get you in the relaxing spa mood.
Step 2: Make yourself some detox spa water. Just add lemon slices, mint and cucumber slices to your glass of water to start your spa treatments from the inside out.
Step 3: Make a hair mask. Coconut oil is your best friend here; it has a million beneficial uses and is a great-unprocessed option for and healthy skin and hair.
- Grab some organic coconut oil and pop it in the microwave for a minuet so it’s nice and soft. Next slather that stuff, as much or as little as you’re comfortable with, all over your hair, working it from root to tip. Then comb it through, and put your hair up to let the coconut oil work it’s moisturizing magic. You can even leave it in your hair overnight if you’re feeling extravagant. It makes your hair silky smooth and so, so soft. Just make sure to wash it out well in the morning or you will end up looking like you have greasy hair that hasn’t been washed in months.
Step 4: While your hair mask is soaking in get to work on your body with a homemade exfoliator. I love this easy olive oil and sugar scrub for that ultimate clean, shiny and refreshed feeling.
- Mix 1/2-cup olive oil with ¼ cup sugar for an all-natural exfoliator. This one is particularly great to use on your legs before you shave to wash away any dead skin, for a silky smooth and moisturized finish. Regardless of if it’s summer and your dying to show off those smooth limbs, or you’re just in need of a mid winter pick detox and me up, this one is a winner.
Step 5: Next up, time for a facial! My all time favorite home beauty hack for a facial is an unbelievably simple baking soda scrub.
- Simply add about 2 tbsp. of baking soda to 1 tbsp. water in a cup and stir together so that it forms a paste. Gently apply it to your face with your fingers tips in small circular motions, and then wash it away with a warm washcloth. The result? Instant glowing skin! Just make sure to moisturize afterwards to finish off your facial right.
Step 6: Lastly, can’t forget about the lips!
- Mix together 1 tsp. of sugar and 1 tsp. of coconut oil to make the easiest ever homemade lip scrub that gives you that instant, supple pout.
Step 7: Bliss. Relax and enjoy feeling of being pampered, shiny and new in a clean and wallet friendly way. Pass the detox water please.
